Augusta printing works in Litomyšl

The Augusta printing works in Litomyšl were first mentioned in 1493. In the course of its life, the building appearance changed as the owners and the printing operation needed. The greatest change occurred in the early 20^th century, when a three-storey structure was added to the original building. The building was disused in recent years.

In our study for renovating the Augusta printing works and converting them to an art gallery, we proposed to cleanse and renovate the original building without major interventions in the building structure and layout. The art gallery was extended into an addition adjoining the 20^th century annexe and gives the place a new dynamic towards the adjacent open land neighbouring on the monastery gardens.

The project was made based on a private investor’s request.
